We had the opportunity to get-a-way from it all this weekend and took it...and what a weekend it was! We got a later start than had hoped but we arrived at 9 to pitch darkness and the sound of a pack of coyote's howling at our arrival. We unlocked the homestead house and unloaded while trying to get Biscuit settled enough to relieve herself...that was a chore in itself.
The next day was filled with hiking and exploring the vast mountain lands.....dreaming of our retirement cabin far away from civilization....ah! I won't rush life by too quickly though...we are enjoying every bit of it while we are here in this great place!
So we gathered up some firewood and pulled the chairs close and enjoyed the fire and the cool evening air and a lovely conversation with a new local who is building his retirement home currently...what a cool guy and a nice way to pass the night.
In the morning we enjoyed hot cocoa and coffee on the eastern facing patio and watched the open range cattle graze across some other farmer's hay field until they were up on the front yard of our cabin and then we packed up & cleaned up the cabin and headed back to Canon City and then back on home to the springs where we spent the rest of the day enjoying NFL football and yet another nap.
Later this afternoon we might meander over to Roy & Vicky's and aunt Julie's house for a visit and to practice our leash skills.
We hope you had a relaxing weekend too!
